Bodega – Irache

The famous wine fountain provided by the Bodegas at Irache, just outside Estella, for Pilgrims to taste the local wine for free. This part of teh Camino was already famous for its wine in the 12th Century. It is a treat for weary Pilgrims to have a free glass of wine, the fountain was built in 1991 and bears two inscriptions:

“We are pleased to invite you to drink in moderation. If you wish to take the wine with you, you will have to buy it.”

“Pilgrim, if you wish to arrive at Santiago full of strength and vitality, have a drink of this great wine and make a toast to happiness.”

The Fountain is closed at 8pm each day and further details about the Bodegas and their wine can be found at:
