We walked the Camino from late April to early June this year, and the walk down into Ponferrada was not easy. The 700m climb down from the mountains turned out to be really hard. Much of the trail was loose rock or rough surface. We followed a trail of blood for a while until we came across a guy who had face planted into rocks. With 10kg of pack, once you go it’s hard to pull back. Three other walkers helped him into a nearby village.
